Singleton’s long list of accomplishments and many years of service to the citizens of the City of Detroit and Detroit Fire Department are unrivaled. Ms. Singleton has served in various capacities on the Executive Board of the Detroit Firefighters Association, Local 344. Her elected tenure spans some 14 years. She was a 4 th Battalion Direct for 4 terms, Secretary and then Vice President of the Association. Her service, commitment, and dedication led to Ms. Singleton being selected to the all impressive position of delegate to the Democratic National Convention where she advocated on behalf of fire fighters across the country. She spoke to a national audience and her words were well-received. She has recently become the first female President of the Phoenix of the Detroit Fire Department, the black firefighter’s community organization. Ms. Singleton’s involvement and support of the Phoenix has been unquestionable. She has helped the organization advocate for fair and just treatment for its members. She has served as treasurer and administrative assistance and assisted with the procurement of a $200,000.00 training grant. This grant paid costs related to a Youth Opportunity program for young men and women residing in the City of Detroit. Finally, Ms. Singleton was the recipient of a $75,000 Motor City Match grant for a multi-use development project on the city’s westside. She also owns a boutique that is dedicated to providing clothing to low income individuals who are re-entering the workforce. Due to her undying commitment, she has been the recipient of multiple community service awards and acknowledgements for her exemplary performance. Teresa possesses a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Masters’ Degree in Public Administration. Anyone who knows her is not surprised of her meteoric rise as she has a great deal to bring to the table. Any organization to which she affiliates will bear fruit from her tenure. |
