Jennifer M Grieco is a shareholder at the law firm of Altior Law, P.C., and a past president of the State Bar of Michigan. During her term, Jennifer focused on professionalism and our higher calling as public citizens in service to the community. She created the Peak Law Movement to "Raise the Bar" by tackling social injustice and equality and launched the Black Law Matters podcast.
Currently, she serves as a board member on the Lakeshore Legal Aid Board of Directors; Secretary of the Oakland County Zoological Authority; Board Member of the Detroit Zoological Society; Member of the ACLU Oakland County Lawyers Committee; Chair of the SBM ADR Council, Member of the ABA Standing Committee on Professionalism, and Panelist for the Attorney Discipline Board. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Oakland County Bar Association, elected in 2003 and serving as president from 2010-2011. She is a past president of the Women's Bar Association of Oakland County and was an executive board member of the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association. In 2011, she was named a "Woman in the Law" by Michigan Lawyers Weekly and was recognized by her peers in the list of Top 10 Lawyers in Michigan in 2023, Top 50 Women Attorneys in Michigan by Super Lawyers in 2011-2023, Top 100 Lawyers in Michigan in 2013-2023, Top 50 Business Lawyers 2013-2018 and Top 25 Women Business Lawyers 2013-2018. She was included in The Best Lawyers in America for 2015-2023 and named Lawyer of the Year for Professional Malpractice Law in Troy for 2021 and 2023 by Best Lawyers and was recognized as a DBusiness Top Lawyer for 2012-2023 and in the list of Top 10 Women in Michigan and Top 10 Women in Business in Michigan in Leading Lawyers Magazine. She was a Crain's 40 Under 40 in 2010 and Notable Woman Lawyer in 2017 and 2021. She received the Michael K. Lee Memorial Award recognizing diversity from the OCBA in October 2017. She has been awarded numerous honors, including the Evelyn Forrest Respected Advocate Award by the Women's Bar Association, the Earl J. Cline and Sherwin Schreier Award by the State Bar of Michigan Negligence Section, the Jean L. King Leadership Award by the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, the Michael Franck Award by the SBM Representative Assembly, and the George N. Bashara Jr. Award by the State Bar of Michigan ADR Section. In 2011, the Legal Aid and Defender Association Inc., presented Jennifer with the Pro Bono Service Award of the Oakland County Bar Association for her work in establishing the OCBA Pro Bono Mentor Match Program. The OCBA Pro Bono Mentor Match Program won both the LexisNexis Community Education Outreach Award at the American Bar Association's Annual Meeting in August 2011 and the State Bar of Michigan's Kimberly M. Cahill Award for Bar Leadership in September 2012. Jennifer specializes in complex commercial litigation and business torts including professional liability, shareholder disputes, contract, and construction claims. She has also completed the 40-hour General Civil Mediation Training Course and serves as a mediator and/or arbitrator. |
