Michigan State Board of Education Currently serves on the Michigan State Board of Education. She served as a Michigan State Representative for six years, three full terms. Lipton founded and was named President of the Michigan Promise Zone Association, which supports free community college tuition, technical training and certification to Michigan students in selected communities. A Harvard Law School grad, she worked as a patent attorney, helping universities and small businesses, often in competition with large, powerful corporations. A survivor of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Ellen joined the fight to allow life-saving stem cell research in Michigan. Some of her numerous honors include, Public Official of the Year (by the National MS Society); Legislator of the Year (by the Michigan Probate Judges Association and the Michigan Association of Drug Court Professionals); Elected Official of the Year (by the Oakland County Democratic Party). |
