WONder Woman SPOTLIGHT
Rev. Faith Fowler (June-July 2021)
Each month WON highlights one of our honored WONder Women and this month we shine our spotlight on Rev. Faith Fowler. She is a Wonder Woman, the pastor of Cass Community United Methodist Church and the Executive Director of Cass Community Social Services, a nonprofit agency that provides food, housing, medical/mental health, and employment programs for people living in areas of concentrated poverty. The demand for services of the sort provided by Cass Community Social Services rose sharply over the last year while also becoming more difficult to provide given the necessary restrictions imposed to help curb the pandemic. Rev. Fowler’s steadfast leadership has been enormously inspiring and life-changing for many. In addition to her work at Cass, Rev. Fowler has served as a board member of the Cass Corridor Neighborhood Development Corporation, an advisory board member of the Detroit Area Agency on Aging and a board member and trustee on the General Board of Church and Society. Rev. Fowler has lived in Detroit for the last 30 years. She recently sold her historic Victorian house in Corktown in order to live and participate with people residing on the Cass campus and in the tiny homes community that she has been a leader in developing. Please read more about Rev. Fowler's many accomplishments in her full biography, here. Rev. Faith Fowler, we salute you for your lifetime of dedicated service to others, leadership in the public sector, and for being a role model for women everywhere. Thank you!

History
The Women Officials Network, a non-profit and non-partisan organization, was founded in 1997 by then State Rep. Patricia (Pan) Godchaux (R-Birmingham) and her district liaison, Barbara Moorhouse.
One of WON's first activities was to host quarterly breakfasts that featured dynamic speakers and provided great networking opportunities. Our Quarterly Networking Breakfasts are still going strong. We have hosted a wide array of speakers on a range of topics. Past programs have included the women on the Michigan State Supreme Court, Secretaries of State Terri Lynn Land and then Jocelyn Benson, Senator Debbie Stabenow, and many other powerful and influential local leaders. View a list of our recent speakers here.
In 2008, the WON Foundation was formed to take over the WONder Woman Awards Banquet. In 2018, the Women Officials Network and the Women Officials Network Foundation became one organization. Read more about that here.
