Shadia Martiniwas born and raised in Aleppo, Syria under dictatorship. She graduated from The University of Aleppo with a BS in Architectural Engineering as one of a few women in her class. Following graduation, she worked as a teacher for 4 years. In 1991, the government of Austria invited her to conduct research at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. She then immigrated to the United States in 1993. She went back to school and earned her MBA at the University of Michigan Business School in 1996. After graduating, she received her builder’s license and her real estate license and started working in both fields. Shadia Is married and has two boys.
