​Bushra Alawie Biography

Bushra Alawie

Bushra Alawie is a trailblazer and history-maker, becoming the first Arab-American female wearing a hijab to work with both the U.S. Army National Guard and the FBI. She began her career with the Army National Guard in 2005 and was eventually promoted to National Manager of the National Guard Bureau Outreach and Recruitment program. In 2009, Bushra earned the prestigious #1 Recruiter in the Nation award before transitioning to the FBI in 2010. During her time with the FBI, which spanned until 2019, Bushra played a pivotal role in the FBI’s public affairs community relations and trust building campaign, handling issues that garnered local, national, and international attention.


On May 16, 2015, Bushra was one of only six FBI employees statewide to be recognized and honored for her heroic efforts in law enforcement during a Blue Mass Celebration for National Police Week by the Department of Justice. 


A skilled campaign strategist, Bushra also served as the campaign deputy manager for Justice Richard Bernstein, contributing significantly to his successful campaign. Today, she runs her own consulting firm, offering expertise in public relations, media relations, crisis communication management, and high performance leadership development. Her firm provides consulting services for political campaigns, corporations, and CEOs, guiding them through complex challenges and enhancing their public presence. Her consulting work also includes engagements with multiple U.S. State Department offices and American embassies worldwide.


Bushra has been a featured speaker at West Point Military Academy, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and numerous community organization’s, and corporations. Her expertise in leadership, workplace conflict resolution, and organizational development has attracted audiences eager to learn from her experience, globally. 


Bushra holds a master’s degree in social work from Wayne State University and a bachelor’s degree in social work from Madonna University. She is bilingual, further enhancing her ability to connect with diverse communities. 
In 2025, Bushra was recognized among the Top 100 Women Leaders by the United Arab Emirates’ “Year of Community” Women’s Congress Impacting Continents, an honor celebrating influential women leaders, shaping the future on a global scale. This prestigious acknowledgment highlights Bushra’s exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to make meaningful contributions.
